This neat First Day of Issue envelope with the Maine’s Portland Head Lighthouse and the United States flag was issued in 1981 and postmarked in Portland, Maine the city of its first use. Featured on the envelope is a wonderful color image of Maine’s Pemaquid Point Lighthouse with the flag. First Day of Issue meant that the postage stamp was only available on that day in that city or town and available for sale in the rest of the country, the following day.
