Vermilion Lighthouse, Ohio as it appeared in 1908. This was the third lighthouse to occupy the site. When the weight of the lighthouse on the wooden pier caused it to lean the U.S. Lighthouse Service removed it and brought it to the Lighthouse Depot in Buffalo, New York. It 1935 it was moved again to become the East Charity Shoal Lighthouse on Lake Ontario. The keeper's house, which was on land, still stands today and is a private residence. In 1991 a replica of the Vermillion Lighthouse was erected in Vermilion on the grounds of the Inland Seas Maritime Museum. Recently the museum announced that they will be moving to larger quarters at the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority in Toledo, Ohio. Although possible, it is doubtful that the Vermilion Lighthouse will also be moved. In 2005 a replica of the Vermilion Lighthouse was also built on Lake Havasu in Arizona.
