Passage Island Lighthouse as it appeared in 1933 from a photograph taken by First Assistant lighthouse keeper Vern Bowen. If you look closely you will see his young daughter, Ann, at the top of the steps by the fog signal building. Vern Bowen was stationed at Passage Island Lighthouse until 1943 when he was transferred to Michigan’s New Presque Isle Lighthouse. (Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: November 2009
