Roscoe C. Johnson served as the assistant keeper at Libby Island Lighthouse from 1894 to 1896. He then became head keeper at Little River Lighthouse in nearby Cutler where he served until 1898 when he swapped positions with Libby Island keeper Frederic Morong who wanted to be at Little River Lighthouse so his children could attend the Cutler School. Johnson stayed at Libby Island until 1901. Interestingly Johnson's son in law, who served at a number of Maine Lighthouses, later served at Little River Lighthouse where Johnson had once been the keeper.
