Photo Caption:

Orlo Hayward cradles Raymond Bay in his lap out on the deck at Tillamook while “camping out.” Former keeper and author Jim Gibbs also tried to sleep on the deck one night during his 1945 tenure but without too much success as he was first attacked by mosquitos and then sea birds who used him for target practice. But in this photo it looks like they met with some success, while enjoying the next morning’s lazy feeling. (Courtesy of Jean Hayward Wilkinson.)
