The Baumgartner Gallery houses the exhibit Sentinels of the Shore: Lighthouses of Door County, and the centerpiece is the 4th order Fresnel lens removed from the Sherwood Point Lighthouse in 2004. The sign on the front of the replica lantern room informs visitors that the Pottawatomie Light, built in 1836, was Wisconsin’s first lighthouse and that Door County boasts having more lighthouses than all other United States counties except one.
