Keeper Orrin Lindsey Milan served in the United States Lighthouse Service for an impressive 40 years in his home state of Maine. As shown in this photo by the number 2 on his lapel insignia, he was an assistant to his father, Thomas R. Milan, at Mount Desert Rock Light from 1892-1897 before transferring to Burnt Coat Harbor Lighthouse where he became the head keeper for the next 35 years.
