Robert Gerlof had initially requested to be buried at sea at the base of Tillamook Rock so he could rest near it, but he is buried at Ocean View cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon instead. His simple marker attests to the simplicity of his life. It was said of him that his only objective in life was his beloved Tillamook Rock which served as wife and family to him.
