The Upper Cedar Point Lighthouse in the Upper Potomac River in Virginia where Floyd Earl Crewe served as the lighthouse keeper from 1943 to 1947. Keeper Crewe’s fishing abilities here was so good that he was able to catch and sell enough fish to purchase his wife and daughters new coats. The Upper Cedar Point Lighthouse was automated in 1952, deactivated in 1963 and demolished shortly thereafter. (U.S. Coast Guard photo, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
