Photo Caption:
Early vintage view of Maine’s Whitehead Lighthouse Station where Arthur B. Mitchell served as the head keeper from 1919 to 1929. The beautiful 1899 Dutch colonial gambrel-roofed keeper’s dwelling where keeper Arthur. B. Mitchell once lived was torn down in the mid-1980s, but the assistant keeper’s house by the tower still stands. (Shirley Morong Collection, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
