Godfrey C. Kiff served two different times as the lighthouse keeper at the Point au Fer Reef Lighthouse in the Atchafalaya Bay in the Gulf of Mexico near Berwick, Louisiana. Built in 1918, the lighthouse had a 4th order lens. The station was deactivated in July of 1975 and when no group or community wanted it, it was deliberately destroyed by a fire in September of 1976.
