The Hayward children (l-r) Jean, Phyllis, and Joe, were able to get together this summer at a grave marker ceremony in Oregon to honor the service of their father Orlo and grandfather Eugene. They took the opportunity to make a video tape of their memories of being raised as “Lighthouse Kids.” First-hand accounts of stories at lighthouses during U.S. Lighthouse Service years are rare to find today. It was great that the Haywards could share them in such detail, along with their huge photo archive, to be preserved for the future.
