Lighthouse keeper William H. C. Dodge is shown here from an old newspaper clipping with his dog Tray. The dog was somewhat of a celebrity. Like some other dogs in the history of lighthouses, Tray was known to pull the rope of the fog bell to ring it when ships would pass by the lighthouse. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
