*Photo Caption:*		Matinicus Rock Lighthouse as it appears today. The Coast Guard left Matinicus Rock Lighthouse in 1983. In 1997 under the Maine Lights Program, ownership of the lighthouse was transferred to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The island is now maintained as a bird sanctuary.
