The Pass Manchac lantern on the museum grounds is sadly the only intact remains of the 1857 lighthouse that Hurricane Isaac finally toppled into Lake Pontchartrain in 2012. This was the 4th lighthouse built to mark the seven-mile pass between Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.
