Ebenezer “Eben” Wormell was the lighthouse keeper at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse from 1849 to 1851. Close examination of this Lighthouse Digest exclusive original photograph shows that the buttons on both oh his jacket, and vest, bear the raised letters USLHE on them, which stands for United States Lighthouse Establishment, which was what the Lighthouse Service was known as in its early years.
