Photo Caption:

Otho Bounds was the keeper of the Love Point Lighthouse from 1930 to 1936. The lighthouse was built in 1872 at the mouth of the Chester River in the Chesapeake Bay near Kent Island, Maryland. It is shown here with an ice floe that had jammed up around the lighthouse. The lighthouse tender Holly is shown standing ready to rescue the keeper or break up the ice. The lighthouse was automated in 1953 and deactivated in 1964 and subsequently demolished. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
