Photo Caption:

The endangered turntable for the tramway at Michigan’s Huron Island Light Station. The rail tramway was built in 1882 for hauling supplies to the top of the cliff where the fog signal building was built. It is one of a small number of lighthouse tramways still in existence. Historians agree that it must be saved. (Photo courtesy Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association)
