First wife, Florence Burton, sued her husband, Asa. H. Josselyn, for divorce based on desertion and neglect as well as cruelty. They had a four-year-old daughter at the time. However, Asa claimed that it was the other way around and Florence was the one to abuse him. That makes their remarriage 40 years later even more incredulous. Additionally, wife number three, Cora Smith Trommer, was actually a relative of Asa and had known him from childhood, according to Asa’s mother. She thought it natural that they should spend time together while he was married to Linda who, his mother claimed, had made Asa’s life miserable. (The Boston Post, November 12, 1903)
