The Great Shoals Lighthouse at the entrance to Wicomico River in the Chesapeake Bay near Wellington, Maryland where Charles C. Tyler was stationed from 1919 to 1921. The Great Shoals Lighthouse was demolished in 1966 and replaced by an automatic light on a pole placed on the foundation of the old lighthouse. Charles C. Tyler started his lighthouse keeping career in 1905 and previously served at Thimble Shoal Lighthouse in Virginia, Janes Island Lighthouse in Maryland, Watts Island Lighthouse in Virginia, and Holland Island Bar Lighthouse in Maryland.
