While the Colemans had no children, they did have many pets. They are shown here with their dog, Posey, sometime during the five years of Eugene’s service at Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Maine. In October of 1956 about a year after Eugene’s retirement, at a Club Forty-Two event, it was “announced that Mrs. Eugene Coleman of Bath, who for 32 years lived at various lighthouse stations along the Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts coasts, will present an interesting lecture, accompanied by colored slides at that time.” She probably had a lot of incredible stories to tell.
