Elizabeth and Daniel McCall are shown on the side veranda of the keeper’s house at Ship Island Lighthouse in 1892. According to Elizabeth, Daniel requested a transfer in 1899 because he had the additional duty assigned to take care of the two range lights that had been established the previous year on the north and south ends of the island and it was too difficult for him with only one leg to have to traverse the path through the heavy sand between them.
