Charles Lederle served as the keeper of the Duluth Lighthouses from 1910 until retiring in 1915. He is shown with his wife Margaret and children Theresa, Rosa and John; the other lady is not known. By the time he had arrived in Duluth, he was a seasoned keeper, having served at Sand Island Lighthouse, Wisconsin from 1881 to 1892 and at Two Harbors Lighthouse in Minnesota from 1892 to 1910.
