California’s Point Bonita Lighthouse and its famous suspension bridge. The tower was built in 1877 to replace an earlier tower from 1855. Life at the lighthouse was told in the book Three Beams of Light by Nora Engel. The book is out of print; however used copies can sometimes be found for sale on E-Bay and Abe Books, or your library might be able to secure a copy. Additional history can be found in the August 2001, edition of Lighthouse Digest in the story entitled Point Bonita Lighthouse by Mary K. Hanley. The story can also be found in our on-line archives at www.LighthouseDigest.com.
