Every year, as part of the community of Chatham’s First Night Ceremony, the townspeople of Chatham pose for an annual photograph in front of the lighthouse. After the annual photo was taken on December 31, 2001, by Steve Heaslip for the Cape Cod Times, giant flags were unfurled and held by the local citizens in honor of victims, responders, and the families of those affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11th of that year.
