Shown here is Lighthouse Keeper John Anderson along with his wife Hannah and their dog Snooks on the steps of the Princess Bay Lighthouse on Staten Island New York. The photograph was taken sometime between 1917-1918 while he was an assistant keeper at the lighthouse. Anderson also served as an assistant keeper at Montauk Point Light, NY, Muscle Bed Shoal Light, RI, Bullock Point Light, RI, Cedar Island Light, NY and Watch Hill Light, RI. He retired from the U.S. Lighthouse Service on January 31, 1926 and died on July 10, 1937.
