Beautiful silent film ingenue, Olive Thomas, was 23 during the filming of Out Yonder. She worked first as a model, and then performed in the Ziegfield Follies for a year before starting her four-year silent film career in which she appeared in more than 20 features. Tragically, she died the year following her role in Out Yonder while she was in Paris with her actor-husband, Jack Pickford. The newspapers said it was an accidental poisoning, but it was also known that they had a tumultuous marriage and that she suffered from “nervous depression,” so suicide was not ruled out.
