Photo Caption:

The 1854 Fresnel lens inside the lantern room at Point Conception Lighthouse in California as it appeared in 2000. The first order Fresnel lens is seven feet high, not including the station, turn table and gears. Now, another historic lighthouse has lost its Fresnel lens. However, if the lens goes on display at California’s Santa Barbara Maritime Museum the general public will get to view it for the first time in history.
