Photo Caption:

Skillagalee Lighthouse, also known as Ile Aux Galets Lighthouse, and sometimes spelled Skillagallee, as it appeared during the time when Andrew John Nowland and the lighthouse tender Hyacinth serviced the lighthouse. The only thing left standing on the island today is the tower. As shown with dramatic photos in the July/August 2011 edition of Lighthouse Digest, in 1969 the Coast Guard blew up the keeper’s house, leaving the tower standing as a lonely sentinel of another era.
