Steve McKay, weatherman for WLBZ-TV2 in Bangor, Maine, was the emcee for the unveiling and dedication of the new United States quarter honoring Acadia National Park that featured Maine’s Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. Notice the copy of Lighthouse Digest in McKay’s hand. Shown on the stage behind him to the left is Chandler E. Woodcock, Commissioner of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife who read a proclamation from Maine Governor Paul LaPage that declared Maine Quarter Day. Seated to the right is B.B. Craig, Associate Director of Sales and Marketing for the U.S. Mint, who gave an entertaining and informative presentation on the ‘America the Beautiful Quarters.’
Interestingly, as well as being a weatherman, Steve McKay is church pastor and was once the pastor of the Cutler United Methodist Church where Harrison is a member. Several years ago McKay conducted a community church service on the island at Little River Lighthouse in Cutler, Maine.
