This vintage post card shows an Ann Arbor Car Ferry traversing in between the two piers, which were once much longer and where the lighthouses once stood. The Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse is on the breakwater to the right. In the lower part of the card can be seen two rows of railroad box cars. The last of the railroad car ferries was towed out of the harbor in the 1980s and have gone the way of many of our lost lighthouses. (Lighthouse Digest archives.) Back to the edition of: Mar/Apr 2012
