The image shown here, from an old newspaper photo, was titled Nuclear Lightkeeper and had the following caption, “Atomic generator that will operate an unmanned lighthouse beacon and foghorn for 10 years has gone into test operation at the U.S. Coast Guard yard at Baltimore. Martin Company technician monitors output of the 60-watt generator before installation. Generator was developed by Martin’s Nuclear Division under a U.S. Atomic Commission program.”
