Although the year this photo was taken it shows broken window panes and missing glass in the lantern room. There is some type of antenna affixed to the lantern room, which may have been for some private use. The area around the lighthouse is overgrown and the path to the light had not been maintained in years. The photo indicates it may have been taken around 1900 before a hurricane devastated many of the trees around the lighthouse. (Lighthouse Digest archives) Back to the edition of: May/Jun 2013
