Photo Caption:

When park rangers first saw this young boy on January 14, 1967, he was coming out of the window near the top of the Cape Florida Lighthouse. By the time they found someone with a camera, the boy had made his way down the remnants of the ladder, and when he ran out of ladder, he used the protruding bricks to scale his way down, reversing the way he had made it up to the top. We can only wonder if his parents ever knew what he had been doing at the time, or where they were when he was risking his life. Records indicate that once he reached the ground, the park rangers tossed him out of the park. (Lighthouse Digest archive photo taken by Bob East.)
