The New Presque Isle Lighthouse, shown here in a 1913 photograph, is where Anna Garrity grew up. Her father, Patrick Garrity Sr., was the keeper here from to 1871 to 1891, and her mother, Mary, was the assistant keeper from 1872 to 1882. Anna’s brother, Thomas, served as an assistant keeper here from 1884 to 1887 and head keeper from 1891 to 1935. Another one of Anna’s brothers, John, served here as the 1st assistant keeper from 1905 to 1913. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
