This historic vintage post card image shows the Burlington Canal Main Lighthouse and the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club. The yacht club was established in 1888 but its historic structure, shown here, no longer stands, having been destroyed in a fire. However, the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club still exists, but at a different location. You’d think that the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, whose web site says they promote local and international yacht racing, would take the initiative to spearhead fund raising now to start building a bank account to help save this historic lighthouse.
