This was the temporary lighthouse structure that became the Point Arena Lighthouse during the time that the earthquake-damaged 1870 tower was being demolished and before the new tower could be completed. The lantern from the 1870 tower was placed atop the temporary wooden tower, which in essence was the 2nd Point Arena Lighthouse. (U.S. Lighthouse Society archives.)
