Above: This beautiful stone structure was built specifically for the museum at Stony Point in 1934, shortly before the 3rd keeper’s house was built at Stony Point Lighthouse in 1935. During the Revolutionary War, this is where, on July 16, 1779, Brigadier General Anthony Wayne led his corps of Continental Light Infantry in a daring midnight attack on the British fort and seized the site’s fortifications from the British, thereby giving control of the Hudson River to the Americans.
