Lewis Anton Rose, stepson of lighthouse keeper John Sandell, served as an assistant keeper at Wind Point Lighthouse from 1883 to 1886. His brother, George, was also an assistant keeper at Wind Point Lighthouse. The training he received at Wind Point Lighthouse served him well. He went on to be the acting head keeper and then the head keeper at Sand Point Lighthouse in Escanaba, Michigan from 1866 until he retired in 1913 after serving 30 years as a keeper, 27 of them at Sand Point Lighthouse.
