Henry Bevry served for more years at Wind Point Lighthouse than any other keeper. He served as an assistant keeper from October 1, 1902 to October 4, 1907, and then as head keeper from 1913 to 1945. His lighthouse career started at Wisconsin’s Cana Island Lighthouse in 1899 where he served until being appointed 1st assistant keeper at Wind Point Light in 1902 when he was promoted to head keeper at Wisconsin’s Pilot Island Lighthouse (Port Du Mort Lighthouse) where he served until April 1, 1913 when he then became head keeper at Wind Point Lighthouse. At the age of 70 when he retired from Wind Point Lighthouse he estimated that he had climbed well over 3 million steps in the tower. (Helen Carlson collection, Lighthouse Digest archives.)
