Photo Caption:
Getting on and off St. Paul is tricky and dangerous with the sea “running”. Equipment and people were transported to and from the island with a “rope pull ferry”. The fishing boat Grey Hound had to stay in deep water and keep steering to stay off the rocks, while the dory with Bill Dudge (l) and Henry Ingweson (r) pulled back and forth with ropes attached to each end.
