Those attending the Friday cruise of the North American Lighthouse Festival held this past August in Mackinaw City, Michigan, got the ride of a lifetime that most will never forget. In spite of gusty winds and high seas the boat captain was able to get passengers good views of the remote lighthouses of White Shoals, Waugoshance, St. Helena and Grays Reef. Looking at these people wearing jackets, who could have imagined the dramatic change from hot weather that the whole nation had been experiencing only a day earlier. Many on board this cruise had wished they had taken motion medication before departing the dock at 6:30am. The crewmembers onboard for this cruise should have been awarded a medal for the great job they did. Naturally, the next day’s boat trips experienced much better weather.
