The emphasis in the interpretation of the Hook Lighthouse centers both on the architecture and the history of William Marshall Earl of Pembrokeshire and Lord of Leinster who was responsible for the building of the tower to guide shipping into his newly established port of New Ross. Graphic panels tell of the monks who were the first custodians of the light on Hook Head, an order of Augustinians called St. Saviour of Rinn Dubhan. Dubhan was the sixth century Welsh monk who is reputed to have extablished the first light on Hook Head and who established an order of monks who continued to tend the aid to navigation until the middle of the 1500s.
