Michigan’s Gull Rock Light lighthouse sits as a lonely outpost on a barren rock, yet Alice Nolan served as assistant keeper to her husband John here from March 1892 through November of 1903. Prior to that Mary Cocking served here as First Assistant Keeper to her husband Stephen from Sept. 12, 1872 to July 27, 1877.
