The year of this photograph of Mt. Desert Rock is unknown as are the people who are in the photograph. Since there were three keepers on the island, they might have been family members. Note the wash hanging on the line and the storm shutters. Storms were known to have thrown rocks about the island, and at times, water would rush through the first floor of the keeper’s house. During one storm, the keepers and their family members had to seek refuge in the top of the tower.
