West Quoddy Lighthouse keeper Eugene N. Larrabee pushing granddaughter Sandra in a cart
that he had made. Notice in the background the clothesline where keeper Larrabee’s wife Ethel had her clothesline attached to a garage and the swings. The swings were there for Sandra Larrabee and the children of the second lighthouse keeper Howard Gray who was also stationed there at that time. Photo was believed to have been taken in 1936. We know that Larrabee was stationed at Maine’s Franklin Island Lighthouse in 1911, however, we are not sure of what other light-houses Larrabee might have been stationed at. Keeper Eugene Larrabee along with his son Floyd and keeper Larrabee’s brother Gilbert kept a small skiff at West Quoddy that they used in tending some lobster traps they maintained for extra food.
