Landing at the portless reef of Märket is a demanding task, most days not possible at all. When seen from a distance, the Märket Lighthouse can easily be mistaken for another ship at sea. The national border between Sweden and Finland goes across Märket. However, it is not marked by any large signs or pyramids of stone — only by some drilled holes with bolts in the rock.
