Left to right: Keeper Octave Ponsart, Seamond Ponsart, historian Edward Rowe Snow and Emma Ponsart. This photo was taken in December 1946, when Snow, who was famous as the “Flying Santa” to lighthouse keepers, landed by helicopter at Martha’s Vineyard to hand deliver a doll to Seamond. The year before, he had dropped a package containing a doll for Seamond at Cuttyhunk, but the doll was broken when the package hit a rock. Courtesy of Dorothy Snow Bicknell.
