Photo Caption:

This photograph shows some of the Coast Guard personnel at the top of the tower at Windward Point Lighthouse in the mid 1900s. They were part of the Coast Guard contingent stationed at Guantanamo Bay working for the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Training Group. Although, at that time, the lighthouse was technically the U.S. Navy's, as a sense of duty as well as nostalgia, these guys maintained the lighthouse with whatever paint, brushes and sandpaper they could lay their hands on. Photograph by Capt. Mark Campbell, USCG.
