The crew left to right, pilot, Captain Herman Koehl, co-pilot Major James Fitzmaurice and the sponsor, Baron Gunther von Hunefeld with the monocle on one eye. The Baron died of cancer shortly after the trip. When the Irish co-pilot, the charismatic Major James Fitzmaurice died in 1965 he was given a State Funeral in Dublin, Ireland.
